Does photo quality matter? If so, how do I take good pictures of my pet?
Better reference photos do translate to superior pet portrait paintings! With that in mind:
- Shoot from your pet’s eye level by sitting or lying on the floor. Try not to take the photo from above your pet as such photos are often disappointing.
- Use natural lighting, either outside or indoors by the light of a nearby window. Avoid flash.
- Avoid filters and blurry shots: An accurate representation of your pet ensures we’ll deliver a finished product you’ll love.
- Get close to your pet and focus on their eyes.
- Be patient. Have someone attract your pet’s attention behind you while you shoot or hold a treat in your hand close to the camera. Try making a high pitched tone or whistle to get your pet in an alert pose.
If this is a memorial piece, I just suggest to send me a few of your favorite photos (even smartphone shots) for me to choose the best candidate for the laser portrait. It’s best to send images that are in focus and without filters applied to them.
About Our Portrait Process
STEP 1
CHOOSE A PHOTO & PLACE YOUR ORDER
Choose your favorite photo of your dog, horse, cat, rabbit, or any other pet. I ask for up to 3 to 4 images to be safe.
Fill out the custom pet portrait order form and questionnaire. This will include questions about your pet, if you have multiple pets, what type of portrait you want (ears or one line portrait), and artwork size.
Next upload your pet’s portraits, and then click PLACE ORDER.
STEP 2
APPROVE YOUR PROOF:
Sheila will create your custom, hand-illustrated, pet portrait! Once complete, we’ll send you a proof to review. Approve it or request changes. Multiple change requests may incur an additional fee, so please make sure you have read the Pet Portrait Order Agreement.
We will not ship your order until you approve the portrait to ensure you are 100% satisfied with the finished product.
STEP 3
YOUR ITEM IS DELIVERED
Once your item ships, we’ll send you an email with tracking information.
Expect delivery within about 2 weeks of placing your order, and add a few days during the busy holiday season.
